Culture and Climate

At Monterey Park Elementary School, we take immense pride in fostering a positive and productive culture and climate for our students, teachers, and administration. Our commitment to creating a supportive environment is reflected in our adoption of well-established, research-based programs.

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS): PBIS forms the cornerstone of our approach to behavior management. This evidence-based framework focuses on teaching and reinforcing positive behaviors, creating a school community where expectations are clear, and students are empowered to make responsible choices. By recognizing and celebrating positive actions, we aim to cultivate a school culture that encourages kindness, respect, and collaboration.

Playworks: We've partnered with Playworks to enhance the recess experience for our students. Playworks is a program designed to promote inclusive play, reduce conflicts, and instill valuable social skills. Through organized games and activities, we ensure that recess is not only a time for fun but also an opportunity for students to develop teamwork, communication, and conflict resolution skills.

Olweus Bullying Prevention Program: Our commitment to a safe and nurturing environment is further reinforced by our participation in the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program. This comprehensive initiative focuses on preventing and addressing bullying through school-wide strategies, classroom activities, and community involvement. We believe in creating a culture of respect and empathy, where every student feels valued and protected.

By integrating these research-based programs into our school framework, we strive to provide a holistic and enriching educational experience. Our goal is to empower students with the skills they need not only academically but also socially and emotionally, setting the foundation for a successful and fulfilling future.

Thank you for being a part of the Monterey Park Elementary School community, where we are dedicated to the well-being and success of each and every student. If you have any questions or would like more information about our programs, please feel free to reach out.
